1. I can't hear any annoying and repetitive rap music coming through the walls.
2. It has (to this point at least) been roach free! Really, it's been insect free completely, except for the one microscopic spider I found in the sink that died while I washed my hands.
I'm hoping the insect situation won't change. Today, the exterminator came. I'm assuming this is just routine (and I thank my wonderful apartment complex for this!) because I haven't had any problems to complain about. But don't they spray bait that ATTRACTS the bugs?! I'm not really okay with that. I don't want my now insect-free apartment to be attracting unwanted insects. PLEASE tell me this won't happen before I see my first larger-than-life roach scurry across my kitchen floor! I don't have any shoes I hate enough to kill it with!
I found a great lake that everyone bikes around! I was going to go out there with my bike today after work, but its pouring down rain. There's a sailing clubhouse out on this lake and the boats were SO pretty yesterday when I went out there close to sunset. I want to learn how to sail. I looked into classes....that might be a nice birthday present (wink wink MOM). Ha, I saw they have classes out at Lake Ray Hubbard, maybe I can drag my Rockwall cousins into taking sailing lessons with me! My second option would be to join a rowing team! I always thought the Oxbridge rowers looked so cool. That also requires money, so it can wait a couple of months.

Life Lessons I'm Learning
I've probably shared this one with you already, but it is the most pertinent in my life right now.
1. When you don't know what you're doing, or where you're going, follow the crowd and you'll get there.
Now, I realize this little rule fails on so many levels. Following the crowd is rarely a good idea. But following this little rule was my key to surviving my first experience at the mega-church I visited today. (I'm considering changing the name of blog to "Confessions of a Church Visitor.") I drove around the ENTIRE campus that sits right off the interstate, and cars were parked back to back for miles, filling all the parking lots in sight. I followed the other cars into a parking garage like a line of ants. I got out of my car and followed the crowd. My little rule was helping me out so far. I may have been alone on what was clearly "Bring Your Boyfriend to Church Sunday," but at least I looked like I knew where I was going.
This was until I was the last person to jump on the overly crowded elevator in the parking garage. I squeezed in next to a very attractive young man in a light blue button down, and resisted the urge to pick him to be the one I followed just so I could strike up a conversation during the "greeting" part of the service. Anyway....I'm off track. The elevator doors opened, and suddenly I'm the first one off. I'm no longer following anyone. I'm leading. YIKES! I don't know where I'm going! I follow cute boy out of the corner of my eye and slow my pace so other people can lead.
I followed everyone (and their boyfriend) into the building, and up to the balcony. Now, I thought the Church of Brook Hills was a big church, but it looks small compared to this one. Maybe Brook Hills just mastered the large parking lot and spacious Sanctuary to accomodate the billions of people that go there. This church clearly had a parking issue, and the Sanctuary was PACKED out, completely. There was another girl (Tina, as I later found out) in front of me who was by herself (she didn't get the 'bring your boyfriend' memo either) and the usher pointed us to a few seats the 2nd row from the top (in the nose bleed section).
This is a good point to interject my 2nd life lesson:
2. Making friends in the "real world" is quite different than making friends in the sandbox in Pre-School.
Long gone are the days when you could find your best friend while sharing Play-Doh and Link N Logs. Yes, the key to making friends in a large city may be going to the biggest church around, because statistically wise, that's where I'll most likely find people my age who want to be my friend too. BUT the girl with the Communication Studies degree has serious issues with walking up to a group of people and declaring I'm going to be their friend.
Samford made it easy to meet people w/ the freshmen-only camping trip before school started (SOSA) and this program during orientation called "Playfair". It is hard to explain Playfair if you've never participated, but it involves a lady in her 50s wearing spandex leading a group of kids to do weird and crazy things to help them meet each other. (sorry for the awful description, but it really is impossible to describe.) I can still tell you who my Playfair partner was: Rett Rivers. I had never met him before that and I don't think I ever talked to him after that, but I still remember him. We did the Playfair handshake.
People always meet their best friends in weird places. I remember 2 of my college friends met each other washing their hands in the bathroom. I have a feeling Preschool was the easiest place to make friends, high school was still pretty easy, college was a nerve-racking but I still made friends easily, but here, in the "real world" where I'm no longer solely surrounded by people my own age, it seems hard. I'm probably just a sissy and need to stop whining and just go join a book club.
FLASHBACK with me to the church service, where I'm sitting next to Tina in the nosebleed section. It was Tina's 2nd visit. She's a real estate agent, seems so nice. I'll probably never see her again. This could be Lesson 3....
3. I'm not great at remembering names. I don't think anyone really is.
The whole secret to remembering them is attaching them to something you already know, and can remember. When Tina introduced herself to me I immediately thought "Oh, Tina Fey...Tina from Napoleon Dynamite". When Andre, the guy in front of my introduced himself to me, I thought "Hey, my friend Marcie's husband is Andre." I can't for the life of me remember the new Andre's wife's name because I didn't think anything when I met her. I didn't attach it to anything. I need to work on that.
All this reminds me of a lecture my favorite professor, Dr. Janas, gave my freshmen year. The man is such a genius, a lot of what he'd ramble went over my head as a freshmen, but I caught this. It's all backed by some Communication Theory I couldn't tell you the name of (and I'm deeply sorry to Drs. Parker and Janas if you're reading this), but he said our minds are like building blocks. We're born as a clean slate and we don't know anything. Then, as we learn, we attach the things we learn to our past experiences. That's why we don't remember much from the first 3 years of our lives. We're establishing the experiences that we'll attach our memories to. To remember something, you have to have something to connect it to. The things we don't mentally attach to anything are forgotten. Its confusing without examples. But it works with remembering names. I'll remember Tina and Andre because I attached their names to other things I already know.
I didn't realize I would need 30 extra minutes to park and find a seat, so I was really late getting to the actual service. Before the preacher got up, they showed a video on clips of war, destruction, famine, earthquakes, terrorist attacks and whatnot. I could tell this was going to be one of those uplifting feel-good sermons....
The preacher led in saying he was preaching on Mark 13- Jesus talking about the Apocalypse. Honestly, that's not really the first sermon I want to hear when I'm visiting a church. People get weird about the Apocalypse, and I started looking around for the Kool-Aid they were going to make me drink. He didn't take the weird route. You know the one...when people start telling you Jesus is coming back next weekend because there was an earthquake in Australia last night and the Anti-Christ is the President. He made it clear that he was not there to give dates or details of when it was coming, but to prepare us for the fact that is WAS coming. This was a good reminder. I think a lot of preachers avoid Apocalyptic preaching because, honestly, no one wants to scare their congregation talking about the Tribulation. The sermon did remind me of my 4th and most important life lesson.
4. This is all temporary
My job might be temporary. My search for friends is temporary. The troubles we face in this world are temporary. And ultimately, this world is temporary. He talked briefly about not putting your faith in America because just like the capital of Haiti turned into rubble, Washington D.C. one day will be flattened (whether or not its in our lifetime, it will happen). The temple in Jerusalem will be flattened (because Jesus said so in Mark 13). He said a lot of things, but one thing stuck with me: "Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Earthquakes don't kill people. The buildings people build kill people....Wars don't make peace. We will always have war, but we won't have peace until the Prince of Peace returns."
Bottom line: More people are being persecuted for their faith today than in the past 2,000 years combined (someone should do a fact check on that). Even though we can worship freely without persecution in the US, there will come a day when that freedom is taken away. Will I remain faithful in times of persecution? What am I doing in this time of peace to help me stand in a time of persecution? He said when they take our Bibles away, I'll wish I had memorized more scripture. Now, there is no guarantee this persecution will come in my lifetime, but I would be ignorant to assume it won't. It IS guaranteed that in the end times, Christians everywhere will be persecuted. Christians all over the country are comfortable, and it was refreshing to hear someone tell me this comfortable place where Christians sit in society is temporary and its being threatened.
He said to the church, "I hope we are the first church they come to shut down, and we're the last ones who will shut up."
How's that for a warm-fuzzy feel-good sermon? The kind of preachers I like are the ones who preach longer than 15 minutes and actually step on people's toes. They actually say something worth listening to. They challenge you. Offending your congregation with Biblical truth will strangely keep them coming back. If you spoon-feed them what they want to hear (the prosperity Gospel and any other self-gratifying version of the Gospel) they won't be fulfilled and they'll leave. At least that's my take on it.
1. When you don't know what you're doing, or where you're going, follow the crowd and you'll get there.

Saturday, June 19
I have become a distracted driver.
It's not because I'm texting or talking on the phone, or Tweeting or Facebooking or anything like that. For the first time in....a long time.... my car is CLEAN, and I can't get my eyes off of it! This is a problem when you're IN your car driving. I just keep looking at the dash and the floorboards and I can't believe how awesome it looks!
I got tired of having the dirtiest car in the parking lot at work. I've been somewhat good about cleaning out my car every now and then at the gas station when I fill up, but that's just throwing away drinks, gum wrappers, etc. I found my ballet slippers from when I took ballet Spring '09! That's bad.
I vacuumed and detailed the inside with these cleaning and protective wipes I got at Target. WOAH, its incredible! Go get some! Your car will look brand new!
I tried cleaning the outside, and it looked somewhat better than it did before, but there were bugs permanently stuck to my car. (I'm tellin' you... its been awhile!) I wasn't satisfied with my wash job so I took it to the $5 car wash (which I paid for in quarters that were IN my car! hahaha $9.80 total. It would've been more but I've paid for a couple meals with the change in my car! hahaha) After the $5 wash I came home and did what I don't think any other Jordan has ever done. I waxed my car! I can't tell if it really made a difference, but I'm going to make myself believe it did.
I even cleaned off the remnant specks of window paint from when my friends and I decorated our cars for the first day of our Senior year....of HIGH school! HA! So, all that to say, I just can't get over it, and my clean car is a distraction! I'm FAR from being OCD, but I'm afraid my car's cleanliness may be the gateway to my newfound OCDness. Hopefully not. I even bought the "New Car Scent" car fresheners that discretely fit into your air rents. Its just amazing.
Sorry. My car is my new pride and joy. After I finished my cleaning the car kick, I moved on to cleaning the pool. I cleaned out POUNDS of azalea flowers that were covering half the pool. If my new job doesn't work out, I definitely have a promising future in car and pool detailing.
Two years ago when I was buying a swimsuit for my Concepts swimming class, I also bought a bikini on sale as a "one day I'll wear this." Hey, it was on sale! Today, I wore it for the first time. Now, I'm not going to go sporting it to the cool neighborhood pool party or anything, at least not until I'm done with Jillian's shred DVD. No one was around, so why not?! It wasn't that bad. I mean, I'm no Victoria Secret model, but it wasn't a Vicky's swimsuit. Its from Macy's, so I'm allowed to look like a Macy's model (nothing against Macy's models. They just look like normal people.)
Jillian (30 Day Shred) kicked my butt today. Since I'm at home I used the weights we have here, and they're 3 lbs heavier than the ones I've been using. DIE! WOW...I'm in such pain. I do have to admit that I skipped Monday and Friday just because I didn't feel like doing it. Its ok, your body needs rest days, right? Tomorrow I'm moving on to Level 2, and I'll want to die all over again.
After working out, I of course got the urge to bake. I made Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies from scratch (recipe on the the back of Nestle Choc. Chip bags). Now I have 4 dozen cookies. What in the world am I going to do with 48 cookies!? HAPPY FATHERS DAY!
So, I changed the look of my blog, but its still under construction. I really wanted a Texas theme, but I can't find Texas anything in any of these free blog deals. I made my own Texas style title banner but I can't figure out how to upload it. So, again, Hannah, I need help. Or I could just settle with the sunflower. Its kind of fun.
Hannah, I don't know if you saw Steph's bridal pics, but you just HAVE to replicate this pic (on right) whenever you get married. It screams Hannah!
When I was scrolling through people's blogs yesterday trying to find free backgrounds, I found some pics of my dream house I'll prob add one every now and then, b/c I don't want to overload this post with pictures. I just like the rustic elegance of this living room. Its very "Anthro-ish". Love it!
Ok. I'm all sweaty from working on my car. So off to shower then sit in the driveway and stare at my baby for a while before bed. HA....don't worry. I'm kidding.

Thursday, June 17
Let me check my schedule....
YEP! It's all clear! It is such a weird feeling, but I have NOTHING to do this weekend! The last time I knew this feeling, I was in London (in January) and free to roam around and do whatever I wanted. Wait...no, not even then. I had my independent study looming over my head that I didn't actually finish until maybe 2-3 weeks before graduation!
Between Step Sing (p.s. Indie Ladies still deserve that spot in the top 3....just sayin'), staining my men's white oxford with bar-b-que sauce at work, trying to get homework done so I could graduate, then actually graduating, moving, and getting my sister married off, I haven't really had many free weekends. There was last weekend, but we won't count that one because I didn't think to write this entry last weekend. I'm writing it this weekend.
Now, what do I do?! Lay by the pool! Then, when it gets to hot, lay IN the pool. Then by the pool, then IN the pool. Then, lather on the aloe!
Today at work I was assigned the thrilling task of walking around the campus and taking note of where we could put more of our new ad posters. I walked around trying to look like I knew what I was doing, scribbling notes on my notepad, and trying to be inconspicuous when I took picture of various places on my phone. No one questioned me, so I must've been pretty good at it. Lesson of the day, just act like you know what you're doing.
Ok...story time. The fellows sit around a conference table right under a sweet flatscreen that is usually on CNN, except during the World Cup bonanza when it is on ESPN (of course! What else?!) I don't know if I mentioned this before but I'm THE girl fellow....so I'm in there with guys watching FIFA pretending I know soccer. I mean, I know soccer...its not THAT complicated. I went to an Arsenal game in January, so at least I've been to a professional soccer game.
Anyway, one of the guys suggested we each take a team, and even though we never will, he suggested we each put in like $5 to whoever's team wins. South Africa, Brazil, Argentina and Italy got snatched up fast. I Googled "FIFA 2010 Predictions" and saw that someone somewhere predicted Spain and Argentina coming out on top. I called out Spain, and I think all the guys were first, impressed I'd pick a legit country, and secondly, ashamed they had forgotten Spain. I think I said "Someone should get Germany, they're probably pretty good" but I think they just blew me off...psh...Germany!?
Well...I should've gone with Germany instead of Spain. Guess that money that no one would ever put into the pool will never be mine. Oh well.
Time goes by so much faster when you're out of school. Its insane how fast the past 3 weeks have gone by since I started my job, and nearly 5 weeks ago I graduated!? Crazy!

Crazy!

Happy Sunday Friends!
A few of my high school girlfriends and I started doing the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD. I normally feel like a total freak doing a workout DVD alone in my living room (like my neighbors are going to try to come peep through the peephole to see what the heck I'm doing!) This DVD is AWESOME! I started it 2 or 3 days after a couple of my friends, and I think we got another girl to join b/c we couldn't stop talking about it!
It has 3 levels, and each workout is 20 minutes w/ 6 minutes in 3 circuits. (3 minutes strength, 2 of cardio, and 1 of abs....3 times). I just did my day 4 and this weekend I had SUCH a hard time walking! haha Hopefully I won't get bored with it. I'm going to do Level 1 until next Sunday, then do Level 2 10 days, and Level 3 the last 10 days. I'm going to look just like Jillian! (I wish!)
Today is my first Sunday in Plano (b/c I went home for wedding stuff last week). I'm not going to lie, its really hard visiting churches alone. You'd think that church would be the most inviting place on Earth, but I always find it kind of intimidating. I guess its because I grew up in one church my whole life and I was comfortable hanging out with my friends and not really talking to the new kids. In 10th grade when my family left the church we grew up in, my sister and I had to be the "new girls," which was awkward, but we had each other, and we got to know the other kids when we went on choir tour with them. In college, I had friends and my sister to visit churches with. Now, I'm flying solo.
My home church's former interim pastor, Dr. Sands, is now interim at a church in Dallas (a pretty big, well known church) so I went to visit! I figured it'd be easier to go if I could see a familiar face there, and I knew he'd be there! (The church is exactly 32 stop lights down the street! CRAZY!) I went to the traditional service and sat in the back around the older folks (I guess kids my age don't know just how cool hymns can be!) When Dr. Sands was preaching, I felt like I was back at my church! I went up to talk to him after the service and he was so shocked to see me! I chased his wife and daughter down at the coffee station and they invited me to sit with them next week. I think his daughter and I might build up the courage to go to Sunday School together next week! I didn't really feel like wandering into a Sunday School class alone quite yet.
The apartment pool is right outside my window and I'm trying to decide if I want to venture out and hang out with the old man who is currently doggie paddling across the pool. HA! Surely he won't bother me if I take a book!

A Texas Sized Birthday Party
Before I dive into the incredibly blog worthy birthday party, I just have to say I feel like something special is going to happen in a grocery store (or rather, I'll MEET someone special in a grocery store). I've known it ever since I saw Michael Buble's music video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AJmKkU5POA.
My suspicion was almost confirmed when I chose to stand in Holden's line. Yes, Holden. How great does Hayley and Holden sound?! AWESOME! He was adorable and mid-young 20's. We exchanged a few words...nothing exciting. We asked "How are you?" at the exact same time, but I was the only one who answered. He forgot to ask if I had a rewards card, so I asked if he could look it up by phone number (its my parent's phone number, so its not like I was giving him my number. Calm down). Good thing I gave it to him b/c it saved me like $4! When he handed me my receipt, he said, "Have a great day Miss Jordan". Too cute! I may have just found my regular grocery store!
OK. Enough of me being ridiculous. I went to the most incredible birthday party EVER! As I was sitting there I kept thinking "Is this real? Am I really here?" It's like one of those really cool things that just happen to cross your path (like getting to go the the Princess of Thailand's funeral and meet her grandson (a prince) because my study abroad professor knows EVERYONE!)
Anyway, about 2:15 everyone started filing to the cafeteria for H. Ross Perot's 80th birthday bash. The tables had been moved and there were chairs EVERYWHERE! We got there 45 minutes early so we could sit (good thing!) There were more people at this birthday bash than at my sister's wedding (and her TX reception combined!)
Apparently they had a little trouble finding a white lie to tell Mr. Perot to keep it a secret. They took him on a tour of the Perot Museum. They left in time to make it back for the party, but he wanted to stop for frozen yogurt, and was very persistent. Ross Jr. told him Michael Dell was on campus and they had to make it back to meet Michael. (Michael wasn't on campus....)
Mr. Perot walked in the door closest to where we were sitting, so I was probably the first person in the whole room he made eye contact with. Or not. Who am I kidding?! My mom keeps asking if he knows my name yet, since I've seen him twice now, but no... he doesn't know me. The bluegrass band played Anchor's Away as he walked in, then we all sang the National Anthem. The 99-year old realtor Ebby Halliday (the #1 realtor in TX and one of the top realtors in the nation, who actually STILL works at age 99, and a good friend of Mr. Perot's) played the ukulele and sang a song she wrote for Mr. Perot.
They showed a couple videos of people who wanted to be there for the party, but couldn't make it, and who wanted to express their deep appreciation to the man who created the IT services industry: Michael Dell and Steve Jobs. Then at some point the bluegrass band played "I'm Proud to be an American" and I saw a couple ladies wipe their eyes.
The band played "Texarkana Baby" and the Foundation President of Texas A&M Texarkana (Perot's hometown) spoke and the mayor of Texarkana and a judge presented him with a replica of the sign that will go on the bridge they gave him as a birthday gift.
I think the next person who spoke was Dr. Robert Haley from Southwestern Medical School. He told us this long story about how Mr. Perot came to him and asked him to research the Gulf War Syndrome (GWS) 15 years ago because everyone thought it was a fake disease and the government wouldn't fund the research. Long story short, Perot funded the research and when Dr. Haley went to present the results to the Clinton administration, they all blew up at him and told him to give it up, it wasn't real, but these guys in uniforms came up and whispered in his ear "This is the study we wanted to do. Keep it up" then they disappeared. Weird. He went into a little of how they found this gene that protects us against toxic gases, and the vets who had more severe GWS had the recessive gene, b/c they weren't protected. They also found that those who had it worse were closer to the bunker when the chemical bombs went off. The government went down to UT Southwestern and threatened to end all government funding to medical research if they didn't stop the research of GWS. Of course, they didn't stop, and good thing because now they have answers! Dr. Haley presented answers to the 3 questions Mr. Perot had 15 years ago as his birthday present: 1. What causes GWS? 2. What is GWS? 3. What is the treatment for GWS?
They had video clips of other people wishing him a happy birthday like....Larry King, Jay Leno, Big Bird (yes, Sesame Street), everyone at Westpoint, military men in Afghanistan and Bolivia, and Perot Systems workers in India (and there was a HUGE banner of his face on the side of their building)...among with others.
Ross Perot has done A LOT in his lifetime. He has a great heart and even though he has started not one, but TWO multi-billion dollar companies, he still helps those in need. I think at age 82 he should try running for president again!
Oh, and the last gift he got was the first volume of a book compiled of thousands of letters from friends and family. Pretty much everyone famous wrote him a note in that book about how he impacted their lives.
His real birthday may still be 19 days away, but I enjoyed helping him celebrate today! Happy 80th birthday Mr. Perot!

AC fixed!
I'm watching the news right now about the gas line explosion in Texas. That was in the county just south of my parents. That's insane, and so sad that it hurt so many people.
One of my coworkers mentioned that area of the metroplex was experiencing some earthquakes and they thought the gas explosion was just a big earthquake. I had no idea north Texas could have earthquakes (I grew up there and I've never felt one!) I mean, we don't even have fault lines in Texas...do we?
Well, I finally have AC in my apartment! It was really hot when we moved in, but I thought that was just because I hadn't officially started paying for the electric bill and we had the door open all day moving in my stuff. I didn't spend much time here between moving in and starting work last week because of the wedding bonanza, but when I started staying at my apt I realized it wasn't going to get any cooler than move in day! The thermostat said it was 80 even though I had it on 70! 80 is still a lot cooler than it is outside, but its far from comfortable!
I sent in a request to fix it, and when I got home from work I could feel cold air coming from under the door! I'm SO happy to have AC! I haven't been able to sleep a whole night because it's so hot I keep waking up! Now I'm not going to want to get out of bed! haha
Tomorrow is Ross Perot's birthday! Happy 79th Birthday Mr. Perot!
p.s. I'm trying to stay signed in to skype all the time, so catch me for a skype date!

Do I have to title every post?
I've found since I started my new blog that I live my day-to-day life thinking in blog mode. I narrate my day in my head as if it was actually interesting enough to write about. Very few of those little blogs stories in my head will ever make it to the blog....that's a good thing. My blog entries probably will follow a stream of consciousness... just a disclaimer.
The other day I was driving on the tollway and saw a girl sitting on a pedestrian overpass. A chain-link fence lined the bridge, so I wasn't worried that she was suicidal, but I did wonder why she was sitting there. But then, as I was stuck in rush hour traffic going 30mph on the Interstate, I was jealous of her being able to just sit there and watch the cars go by. It seemed peaceful.
I was really surprised that Cable/Internet in TX costs twice as much as it did in Alabama. I opted for the "basic cable" just so I could pay the same price I used to (and I was splitting that price with my sister!) Now I get to watch local channels, weather, several Spanish channels, 90s law shows and movies, and KERA (in high-def!). Big Bird has never looked so good. I don't watch much tv anyway, so I don't have to see too many of the ScooterStore or heartburn commercials. All I need is Glee, the Biggest Loser, and MAYBE the Bachelorette, and I think they're covered under basic cable. I am missing out on my Style network, so if I get hired full time I might splurge and get a better cable package.
Stephanie and Scott (sister and brand new brother-in-law) came to TX for the TX reception. We all wore our wedding attire again. We have wedding cake coming out of our ears (well, I should say my parents do because I didn't bring any leftovers back to Plano with me!) Not really sure what they'll do with it, but I'm sure they'd be happy to mail some to you anywhere in the continental US. The flowers at the reception were GORGEOUS! I meant to take a picture of them, but I didn't. The florists put limes, blueberries and raspberries in the bottom of the vase. There were green hydrangeas, pink roses, green prickly things that were sprayed blue, and tall blue flowers (don't know the name). Mom, if you read my blog, take a pic please so I can post them! The wedding bonanza is finally over. Fifteen weeks from engagement to wedding and we actually did it! I don't know why I say "we" because I was just trying to graduate and find a job, so I didn't contribute a lot. Mom and Steph did a great job planning it though.
I survived my first week of work without anyone yelling at me, without crying, and without getting fired. I'm off to a great start. The other Fellows and I decided to have a daily "Epic Fail of the Day."I won the epic fail either Wednesday or Thursday. In the last 30 minutes of our workday I tried to knock out about 30 of these 300 packets we have to bind. I had all the fronts and backs hole punched and I think I even punched all 30 packets (40 pages in a pack), but when I started binding them I realized I hadn't printed them double sided. FAIL. I thew them in the recycling bin and left.
Friday's epic fail went to Will. Will commutes about 45 minutes, and he's always early. When 9:00 rolled around I started wondering where he was. He had pulled up to work at 8:00, but realized he didn't have his laptop, so he went home to get it! I felt so bad he had to add an hour and a half to his commute!
I'll keep you posted on the epic fails of the day. My goal is to keep my personal epic fails to a minimum, but I do enjoy laughing off my mistakes/embarrassing moments.
I'm still having issues personalizing my blog, so Hannah, we might have to have a skype date for you to teach me how to do it!

My New Big Girl Job
Welcome to my blog!!!!! (Hannah has SUCH a big influence over me! First Twitter, now a BLOG!?)
I started my first post-grad job yesterday at Dell Perot Systems as a Fellow (YAY).
DAY 1:
I know it's lame, but I had NO idea what to wear the first day (yeah, I'm a girl. I know.) I haven't had time to shop for "business casual" (whatever that is) because my sister just got married last weekend (GORGEOUS wedding p.s......probably more on wedding later). I bought some clothes online, and picked them up @ the a-p-t office, but STILL couldn't figure out what to wear. I haven't changed outfits that many times since picture day in 10th grade! I made a oopsie by ironing my new silk shirt and it looks like a cat took some claws to it! Hope they'll take that one back. The customer is always right, right? So I got it that way.
When I pulled up to work I followed the parking signs for Associates. I know it was a little ambitious to think I could actually park with the Associates on my first day. I pulled up to the barricade and the guard gate that doesn't actually have a guard sitting in it and picked up the little phone that was sitting there. An automated message told me they'd send me to someone, but they didn't, so I hung up and tried again. Once I talked to someone, they kindly told me I was to park in Visitor parking. I hadn't seen the 6 cars of REAL Associates behind me waiting to get into the Associates parking lot! Yes, I had to reverse, and the 6 other cars had to reverse so I could go find my visitor's spot.
Nothing else bad or embarrassing happened (thank goodness!) So, the only thing left to write about is orientation and the free lunch we got in the caf, but I'll spare you. But I do feel like I learned more in the 4 hours I was there than I did in my 4 years of college...okay, maybe not necessarily, but I had a ton of information thrown at me, and its still seeping in.
There is a hall in the office called "Texas Hall." You'd understand why if you saw it. It makes me proud to be a Texan and proud to be back here. The lyrics of "Texas our Texas" line the walls w/ old Texas flags, pics of oil rigs, and other Texas paraphernalia.
Day 2:
We (the other fellows and I) don't have our laptops yet, so it makes doing work difficult. I got to clean out the copy room! The highlight of my day was seeing THE Ross Perot in the cafeteria. I think it was right as I was telling my fellow Fellow, Daniel, that I didn't think I would recognize Mr. Perot if I ever saw him. I should be able to because there are plenty of pictures of him around. My first clue that it was him was he was the best dressed man in the room. He was wearing a navy suit (other men just in shirts and ties....well, and pants of course), and he had an American flag pin on his suit. He said "hi" to people at the tables around us and they referred to him as "sir." I said "Daniel, I think that was him. He's about to walk by the trash cans"(which were in his line of sight). Daniel confirmed that is was in fact him, and I picked up my phone to Tweet it, so this whole story is a little redundant because my sole reader (yes, you Hannah) already knows I saw him via Tweet.
On the topic of Twitter, I think I might be tweeting for Dell, so follow us when I start tweeting!
I need to make my blog cute! I'll be working on it.
Side note: I'm NOT a fan of the new Sonic commercials that throw Wendy's under the bus because Sonic has "REAL" ice cream and "others don't". I honestly don't care that it is a chocolate mix that freezes. Its soft serve which means fewer calories than the real deal. I'll stick with my frosty, thanks Sonic, because your REAL ice cream isn't that great, and you never put enough Reese's or M&Ms in your Blasts!
I'll try to make my life more exciting so my blog can be more exciting. Miss you Hannah!
